What does NutComp stand for?
“The Nutrition Competence Tool”.

What is the purpose of the NutComp tool?
NutComp is a validated questionnaire that can be used to evaluate self-perceived competence to provide nutrition care among health professionals. The questionnaire has demonstrated strong correlation for face validity, content validity, construct validity, and test–retest reliability.

Briefly, the NutComp tool consists of six sections designed to measure the confidence of health professionals to provide nutrition care to both healthy people and people with chronic disease.

Why is this tool important?
Nutrition is an important aspect of chronic disease prevention and management. In order to better understand how to improve the delivery of nutrition care it is important to have valid and reliable tools to measure self-perceived competence.

How was NutComp used in this study? 

This study used a cross-sectional survey to describe healthcare professional’s knowledge, skills, and attitudes regarding the provision of nutrition care in clinical practice. The NutComp questionnaire was completed by 206 healthcare professionals in Sligo University Hospital, Ireland.
